Compress images

Drop in as many photos as you want. Each one is resized and re-encoded on your own machine, so nothing is sent to a server and nothing needs deleting afterwards.

How to use it

  1. Drop your images on the panel, or press it to pick files.
  2. Set the quality and a maximum width. Lower quality means a smaller file.
  3. Save each result. Change a setting and the same batch runs again.

Questions

How small will the file get?

A phone photo usually drops by 70 to 90 percent at quality 75 with a 1920px cap. Screenshots and flat graphics compress less because there is less detail to throw away.

Does the quality slider affect PNG files?

No. PNG is lossless, so quality is ignored. If you pick WebP or JPEG for a PNG, the slider applies.

Why does it sometimes say no gain?

Because the compressed version came out larger than what you started with. Rather than hand you a worse file, the tool keeps the original.

Is there a file size limit?

Only your device memory. Very large batches are processed one file at a time to keep memory use flat.
