FRAGRANCE FORMULATION

IFRA Compliance Checker

Screen ingredient exposure by application category. Compare numerical limits, flag prohibited uses and identify specifications or conditions that need review.

Ingredient check

Enter pure ingredient equivalents, including contributions from natural materials.

Choose a result to add it. Search covers all 263 records. Multiple CAS numbers under one Standard are combined for the check.

Failed checks — Exceeded limits or prohibited uses

How the calculations work

Finished-product exposure = ingredient % in fragrance concentrate × fragrance loading % ÷ 100. In finished-product mode, the entered percentage is used directly. For a diluted raw material, calculate the pure ingredient contribution before entry. Example: adding 2% of a 10% citral dilution contributes 0.2% citral to the concentrate.

For a numerical restriction, the loading ceiling is limit × 100 ÷ ingredient % in concentrate, capped at 100%. It considers only entered numerical restrictions. It does not authorize a fragrance use level. Blank entries remain incomplete; zero is an explicit zero.

“No numerical restriction” refers only to that Standard's category table. Empty cells, note-box values, specifications and conditional restrictions are never treated as unrestricted use. Group Standards and restrictions expressed on another substance basis require manual review. Phototoxic mixture effects and other cross-Standard combinations are flagged, not automatically cleared.

The full conditions and supplier evidence must be assessed separately. This tool does not establish legal conformity or generate a supplier's Certificate of Conformity.

Count every ingredient contribution.

Include the same restricted constituent from every material in the formula. Combine contributions covered by the same Standard, even when their CAS numbers differ. The checker does not infer essential-oil composition, purity, unknown CAS synonyms or unnamed members of chemical families.

Resolve every review flag.

A numerical result cannot verify material specifications, origin, product category or supporting documents. Special rules can apply to natural occurrences and traces. For Categories 1 and 6, assess flavor-use suitability. An unlisted material is not automatically unrestricted or safe.
