- New Regime: lower tax slabs (from FY 2024-25 onwards) but most deductions are not allowed.
- Standard deduction of ₹75,000 applies in New Regime (₹50,000 in Old).
- The tool compares both and tells you which saves more tax.
Questions
Which regime is better for me?
If your total deductions (80C + HRA + home loan etc.) exceed roughly ₹3.75 lakh, the Old Regime usually saves more. Below that threshold, the New Regime typically wins. This tool calculates both so you can see the exact difference.
What is the surcharge?
For income above ₹50 lakh, a surcharge applies — 10% above ₹50L, 15% above ₹1Cr. This calculator applies surcharge automatically.
What is Health and Education Cess?
4% cess applies on tax + surcharge for all taxpayers. This is included in the calculation.
Is this for FY 2026-27?
Yes. The New Regime slabs and standard deduction reflect the Finance Act changes applicable for Assessment Year 2027-28 (FY 2026-27).
